Number of Christmas tree permits dwindling; Forest Service offices will close for upcoming federal holidays

Springerville, AZ – December 14, 2015 — For those still thinking of cutting a Christmas tree on the national forest, only the Apache-Sitgreaves (ASNFs) and Kaibab National Forests still have cutting permits available. Permits are available for over-the-counter purchase at Forest Service offices through December 24th.

For additional information about where to purchase a tree cutting permit and where to cut a tree contact the forests directly or go to the website of the national forest you intend to visit.

In addition, the Forest Service will close its offices on Friday, December 25th and Friday, January 1st for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Offices will resume normal business hours on December 28 and January 2, 2016.
