Nesting Bald Eagle Closure on Show Low Lake

Springerville, AZ; March 24, 2017—An area closure for the protection of a nesting bald eagle went into effect at Show Low Lake on the Lakeside Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. The closure includes land and water on the southeastern side of the lake.

Such closures are needed in frequently visited areas because noise is likely to have a negative impact on the nesting and fledgling bald eagles. Signs are posted on land and the Arizona Game and Fish Department will place buoys on the lake. Going into or being upon the restricted area is prohibited. A closure map is posted on the Apache-Sitgreaves website at http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/asnf/alerts-notices. The closure will remain in effect through August 31, 2017.

Questions or concerns contact the Lakeside Ranger District at 928-368-2100 or visit the ASNFs website at: www.fs.usda.gov/asnf Nesting Bald Eagle Closure on Show Low Lake.
