Capps Middle School 4th Grader, Danika Watchman

Each quarter, or marking period, Golden Mustang has a drawing for $25 gift cards. These gift cards are not gratis from different vendors, but made possible through donations from businesses, civic groups, churches and individuals in the Heber-Overgaard community and beyond. So far students have won gift cards from Big 5, Amazon and Subway. Mogollon Junior High student that was chosen 3rd quarter was 7th Grader, Aubrey Ontiveros and the winner from Mogollon High School was freshman, Shaylee McKeever. See Capps happy winner, Danika, below. Three lucky students will win them from Wal*Mart the 4th quarter.

EVERY STUDENT has the opportunity – will it be you?
It isn’t hard to enter the drawing; all you have to do is be recognized by someone in your school for making good choices and take the time to write a recommendation for another student or teacher. It’s so easy since it’s all about kindness. Years ago a teacher in the district, then a principal, spelled out his mantra with these simple words; BE KIND – BE KIND – BE KIND. Thank you, Monty Williams for that very sensible advice. Students today are still living by that code and being rewarded for making a difference in the lives’ of others.
