Heber-Overgaard, AZ; October 27, 2016 –Do you normally purchase your Christmas tree permit at the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center? If so, we are recommending that you purchase your Christmas tree permit through the mail or at walk-in to the ranger districts.

The process for purchasing your permit through the mail is as follows:

  • Make out a check or money order to USDA Forest Service
  • Include a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a contact phone number.
  • Send it to the Black Mesa Ranger District, PO Box 968, Overgaard AZ 85933

Please start the process at least 10 days prior to your planned cutting date. There are still approximately 6,000 Christmas tree cutting permits and 60 days until Christmas.
Cutting is allowed as long as a permit has been purchased; and will end Christmas Eve (December 24) at midnight. General information about the Christmas tree cutting program is also available on the Christmas tree permit hotline 928.333.6229 and the ASNFs web site www.fs.usda.gov/asnf.
