Pat & Richele Dildine, AKA Santa and Mrs. Clause look great in fur!

It was a very Merry Christmas for many families and children in our community on December 23rd at the American Legion Post 86 today. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus arrived safely and the tree was decorated and the cookies and hot chocolate were abundant and gifts were plenty. T.J. Lindsey and his wife Lisa are the masterminds of this wonderful event. T. J. tells me this is the ninth year they have planned and prepared for this generous Christmas party. When they have a total of all the families and a list of contacts they call the families and get shoe sizes, jacket sizes and what the children want for Christmas and in T. J.’s words “exactly what they want”.  Food boxes to go include a Turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing and all the trimmings for their Christmas dinner are presented to 25 families.

Pictured in forefront is Amber Leg waiting for the party to begin.

They receive military discounts for some of the purchasing discounts at Payless Shoes and Walmart gives a tax break. Fund raising events throughout the year also provide funds for this cause.

There were many smiling faces today and not just the children; the Legion members have just as much fun if not more in the spirit of giving.

Thank you again Post 86 for helping those in need and caring for our community.
